Hannah & Jay
I had the pleasure of being part of Hannah and Jay's DIY wedding at Hannah's parents' house in Hudson Valley this summer. Hannah found me through Caitlin of DIY Wedding Mentor. From the moment Hannah and I talked, I knew her wedding was going to be wonderful.
Hannah and Jay (along with her friends and family) were a DIY couple looking for someone to take the reins at their wedding so they could enjoy day. The wedding venue was the home she spent her summers at, 10+ acres in the beautiful Hudson Valley. The forecast had been predicting rain all week, but the weather was absolutely perfect!
The ceremony was set to be in the yard with large wooden benches, a chappuah, and an old pickup truck filled with sparking water for guests. Jay rocked a light cobalt blue suit and Hannah was a vision in her long, linen dress. There was not a dry eye in the "house".
Guests followed colorful, handmade signs to the cocktail hour where a delightful crudités awaited them. Rustic touches were added throughout setting including a trough full of beer and a wheelbarrow displaying bunches of wild flowers.
As the cocktail hour came to an end, guests unclipped their escort card from twine and made their way to their seat. Colorful hand painted blocks were used as table numbers, and multiple floral centerpieces, created by Hannah's mom, adorned each large, wooden tablescapes.
Hannah and Jay's parents welcomed guests, then Hannah and Jay shared their first dance with their family and closest friends gathered around them. Dinner was served buffet style and guests were treated to fresh vegetable sides and some good ol' BBQ. Once dinner and toasts were over, Hannah and Jay cut into their cake and the dancing commenced.
Guests danced for hours and welcomed the cold brew coffee bar and donuts picked up from a local cider orchard. At the end of the night, Hannah and Jay kept the party going with a bonfire and a pool party!
Thank you Hannah and Jay for letting me share in your special day!
